Color-Me-Protest and more art by Luke Duggleby

Color-Me-Protest, 2020

Members of the Thai public have become increasingly aware of and vocal about their rights, over the past years. At the same time, and even during a state of uncertain political flux, collaborations between the APT and its broad range of partners on the ground across Thailand, have continued to flourish. This state of affairs has, in recent years and despite ongoing challenges, presented some unexpected opportunities for the pursuit of important national reforms in furtherance of human rights—including, for instance, more space for open discussions with and input by civil society and international experts into government efforts to suppress torture and enforced disappearance, and legislative proposals on matters of criminal procedure. Such opportunities are widely welcomed by advocates, even as their potential for long-term impact remains to be assessed.
