Nur-asikeen Yusoh, Cross-Cultural Foundation, Bangkok and more art by Luke Duggleby

Nur-asikeen Yusoh, Cross-Cultural Foundation, Bangkok , 2020

Nur-asikeen “Sikin” Yusoh, an activist turned human rights lawyer, was first exposed to the conflicts in Thailand's Deep South as a child living in the region. During her studies, Sikin became more aware of continuing human rights violations, and their disproportionate and devastating impact on certain groups, like members of her own Muslim community and their families. "I think it's the duty of all of us living in conflict areas, to do what we can to help improve the situation," Sikin explains. "My hope is to eliminate all torture, and I will continue to work with partners to make this a reality in my home provinces and throughout Thailand."
