Paintings by torture survivors in Patani, shared with permission from Duay Jai Group, 2019

Engaging in creative process can be healing. Realising this, Anchaana and Duay Jai Group also conduct art therapy for torture survivors, as part of their rehabilitation programme for local communities. This is one of the paintings made by an anonymous torture survivor using the "body mapping" methodology. The painting depicted how the torture survivor is gradually recovering from his horrifying past, while the emotional scar from the whole ordeal still remains.
