1965 - Jim Goodfellow Jr.

1965 - Jim Goodfellow Jr. succeeds his father, Jim Sr., as president of Goodfellow Bros.

Jim Jr. kept the company growing even through the recession of the 1970s. He loved the challenge of figuring out tough projects in remote places and supplying the right equipment for the job. Under his leadership, the company began to diversify, expanding its drilling, blasting, and rock crushing operations and purchasing asphalt and paving companies. This prepared them to tackle a wider variety of projects in new places. Because of Jim Jr., the company also expanded to Alaska, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Colorado, and Hawai`i. In Hawai`i, he let Steve take the lead in growing their business reputation and developing expertise in new types of construction that the company had never done before.

In addition to Jim Jr.’s big-picture leadership in expanding the company, Goodfellow Bros.’ success during those years equally relied on Tom Reilly building the projects.
