This series of photographs were taken during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic. In May 2020, I started working as a cleaner in a city hospital; I never imagined myself working in a hospital, much less during a pandemic. There I met many people, different stories, the daily life of nurses, doctors, patients, and especially the importance of all the cleaning workers. Here is my tribute to all my co-workers and the pictures to express the gratitude for life. May every day, each one with its uniqueness, be the opportunity to make us grow, reinvent ourselves, and unite us more and more.

Mariana Topfstedt is a Brazilian-born photographer living in Toronto since 2017. During her photography course, she was impressed by the works of James Nachtwey and Henri Cartier Bresson; their influence led her to follow the path in photojournalism. In 2012 she started working as a freelance photojournalist for news agencies; her images have been published on national and international news websites, newspapers and magazines. In Canada, she participated in art fairs and photography exhibitions.
Personal projects and street photography, which he considers the most enjoyable to do, are still in execution. Photographing the unusual, the intuitive, and the present moment is the best way to express myself and feel free.
