“Stay Safe” and more art by Alexandra Nieuwoudt

“Stay Safe”, 2021
100 x 150 cm (h x w)
# Digital Phography

I chose to capture a form of contraception made purely for women to try and show the societal expectations pushed onto us. Should a woman fall pregnant unintentionally, men, and society as a whole, often put the blame on the woman immediately, saying that she should’ve been more careful and that it’s her fault, completely ignoring how it is also the man’s job to ensure protection by wearing things such as condoms. But of course, men are able to uses excuses such as ‘it’s uncomfortable.’
Do you know what else is uncomfortable? The endless side effects of taking the pill.
