Reflecting on The Yuba River
24 x 18 in (h x w)
not for sale

I paint without a brush. I pour liquified paint from cups, bathing my wet paper in beautiful transparent color. The color is guided by the use of mask, which protects the areas I do not want stained with color. Mask, pour dry, mask pour dry, layer upon layer I work to create glowing color and intricate patterns. I am working on a series of landscape paintings of Northern California. In search of subject matter, I was walking along the shore of the Yuba River in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, when I came upon a pool of still water. Reflecting on the water were yellow cottonwood trees, red bushes, and grass, creating intricate patterns of glowing color… eureka! I found a painting!
