The International Film Initiative and more art by Lilla Bozar

The International Film Initiative , 2021
75 x 100 cm (h x w)

This interactive poster was designed to showcase how the International Film Initiative could help students during the pandemic by creating a feeling of community and closeness despite social distancing. In the poster you can see the film titles that we decided to watch and discuss throughout the academic year, as well as some of our members’ feedbacks. At first, it was particularly challenging to adapt our face-to-face film sessions to an online format using Zoom. However, the project was really appreciated by students, who had the opportunity to practice their target languages, get to know different cultures and meet new friends virtually. Once again, the initiative managed to accomplish its main objectives, which are the creation of a welcoming and inclusive environment, the expansion of one’s horizon and the improvement of foreign languages.

The International Film Initiative was founded in 2019 by lecturers Sibylle Ratz and Mabel Victoria, and two International Festival and Event’s students, Lilla Bozar and Sara Stecca. Their aim is that of creating a strong community by bringing together Scottish and international students joined by a common interest in languages, multiculturality and films. The initiative consists of social meetings that enhance student engagement through the vision and discussion of films in different languages. The project received funding by the Teaching and Grant Panel, which was utilized to buy prizes for the members who won the monthly film quizzes.
