Joshua Gibson
Born: December 21, 1911, Buena Vista, GA
Died: January 20, 1947, Pittsburgh, PA

Joshua Gibson was a power hitter and catcher in the Negro Leagues. He played with the Pittsburgh Crawfords and the Homestead Grays in the 1930s and 1940s. Gibson also played in the Mexican and Puerto Rican Leagues in the 1940s. Josh Gibson’s performance on the baseball field is legendary, and he has been called “the Black Babe Ruth”. Gibson was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972. The Josh Gibson Foundation is located in Pittsburgh, PA.
