Monumental Invention 3 and more art by Patrizio M. Martinelli

Monumental Invention 3
GBP 700
35 x 70 cm
collage from picturestaken by the author

Patrizio M. Martinelli, architect, PhD, studied at Venice University IUAV and teaches architecture and
design at Miami University (USA). His creative work on photography, collage and montage techniques
has been showcased in galleries and publications throughout Italy and the United States. The most
recent Monumental Inventionsseries explores the theme of scale and invention: pictures of details of
Carlo Scarpa’s work (taken by the author) are dissected and re-assembled into new compositions at a
“monumental” scale, which evoke spaces, places, landscapes. In these terms, the artist never creates,
but invents: the Latin word “inventio” means “to find again”, “discover” something that already exists,
which, transformed, translated, transfigured, into unexpected combinations of forms becomes a new
piece of art, architecture, design.
