The sea, the sea £85 and more art by Rosemary Lawrey

The work is a daydream about the rippling waves that surround my island home. I spend a lot of time observing the movement of the waves, and their ever-changing shapes and depths, the light that is reflected off them and their mystery and energy. I think that the smoothness of the reflective aluminium surface is perfect for this subject and lends the picture a translucency while showing every ripple made by every hair of the brush, which I also like. In the making, the patterns of the waves turned themselves into a butterfly's wings.
The work is on a piece of aluminium and is without hanging attachments, but it can be framed, or can be hung as it is using invisible "Command strips" on the back to secure it to a wall.
