Icônes
Le travail avec la série “Icônes” me permet de transposer les codes de l’art byzantin à la représentation du paysage et du vivant, en élevant la Nature au rang de sujet sacré.
J’intègre dans chaque œuvre un fond d’or, traditionnellement symbole de la lumière divine, qui vient auréoler les fragments naturels, les animaux ou encore les horizons. L’or ne désigne plus ici le divin religieux, mais un sacré universel, contemporain, dont le seul et unique sujet est le vivant.
Dans la tradition byzantine, le fond d’or efface toute référence spatiale ou temporelle, conférant au sujet une dimension intemporelle et sacrée. J’utilise ce procédé comme un outil de relecture symbolique du monde naturel. La lumière céleste devient celle qui entoure désormais chaque élément du vivant, lui offrant constance, dignité et solennité.
Je revalorise ce que nous reléguons trop souvent à l’arrière-plan comme un simple brin d’herbe, un morceau d’écorce ou un horizon lointain. Chaque fragment de paysage devient ici objet de contemplation. Chaque œuvre affirme que la Nature, dans son ensemble comme dans ses détails les plus modestes, mérite une reconnaissance sacrée.
Rattaché à l’Histoire, j’ai adopté des petits formats (13×13 cm ou 10×15 cm hors cadre) évoquant les icônes portatives que les voyageurs emportaient autrefois dans leurs déplacements. Ces œuvres intimes invitent à une relation personnelle, presque dévotionnelle, avec la Nature.
Présentée dans son ensemble, la série forme un polyptyque, une installation inspirée de l’iconostase byzantine, ce mur d’”Icônes” placé entre le fidèle et l’autel. Cet ensemble crée une tension féconde entre l’intime et le monumental, entre le détail et le tout, entre le spirituel et l’organique.
Il est intéressant de noter que “Icônes” s’inscrit dans la continuité de ma série “Sanctifié”. J’y reprends certains symboles issus de l’art religieux ancien comme le nimbe et le fond d’or, non comme références stylistiques, mais comme outils plastiques et conceptuels pour interroger la valeur du monde vivant et la relation que nous entretenons avec lui.

Icons
Working with the “Icons” series allows me to transpose the codes of Byzantine art to the representation of landscape and living things, elevating Nature to the status of a sacred subject.
In each work, I incorporate a gold background, traditionally a symbol of divine light, which surrounds natural fragments, animals, and horizons with a halo. Here, gold no longer refers to the religious divine, but to a universal, contemporary sacredness, whose sole subject is living beings.
In the Byzantine tradition, the gold background erases all spatial or temporal references, giving the subject a timeless and sacred dimension. I use this process as a tool for a symbolic reinterpretation of the natural world. Celestial light now surrounds every element of life, offering it constancy, dignity, and solemnity.
I revalue what we too often relegate to the background as a simple blade of grass, a piece of bark, or a distant horizon. Here, every fragment of landscape becomes an object of contemplation. Each work affirms that Nature, as a whole and in its most modest details, deserves sacred recognition.
Linked to history, I have adopted small formats (5.2×5.2 inches or 3.9×1.1 inches without frame) reminiscent of the portable icons that travelers once carried with them on their journeys. These intimate works invite a personal, almost devotional relationship with Nature.
Presented as a whole, the series forms a polyptych, an installation inspired by the Byzantine iconostasis, the wall of “icons” placed between the faithful and the altar. This ensemble creates a fruitful tension between the intimate and the monumental, between the detail and the whole, between the spiritual and the organic.
It is interesting to note that “Icons” is a continuation of my “Sanctified” series. In it, I revisit certain symbols from ancient religious art, such as the halo and the gold background, not as stylistic references, but as plastic and conceptual tools to question the value of the living world and the relationship we have with it.

通过创作“ICÔNES”系列，我将拜占庭艺术的表达方式融入对自然景观与生命的描绘，将自然升华为神圣的主题。
每件作品中都融入了金色背景——传统上象征神圣之光的元素，为自然碎片、动物乃至地平线披上光环。此处的金色不再代表宗教神性，而是象征一种普世的、当代的神圣性，其唯一主题即是生命本身。
在拜占庭传统中，金色背景抹去了所有时空参照，赋予主题一种永恒而神圣的维度。我运用这种手法，将自然世界进行象征性的重新解读。天光如今环绕着每个生命元素，赋予它们恒久、尊严与庄严。
我重新赋予那些常被我们视为背景的草叶、树皮或远方地平线以价值。在这里，每一片风景都成为沉思的对象。每件作品都表明，无论是整体还是最微小的细节，自然都值得我们给予神圣的认可。
承袭历史传统，我采用小尺寸画幅（13×13厘米或10×15厘米，不含画框），令人联想到昔日旅行者随身携带的便携式圣像。这些私密的作品邀请观者与自然建立一种个人化的、近乎虔诚的关系。
该系列作品整体呈现时形成一幅多联画，其灵感源自拜占庭式圣像屏——这面置于信徒与祭坛之间的“圣像”之墙。该系列在私密与宏伟、细节与整体、精神与有机之间营造出富有创造力的张力。
值得注意的是，《圣像》系列延续了我《神圣》系列的创作脉络。我重新运用了古代宗教艺术中的某些符号，如光环和金色背景，并非作为风格参考，而是作为视觉和概念工具，用来探讨生命世界的价值以及我们与它的关系。
