As a former technical writer/illustrator, I was exposed to the manufacturing system. In my personal work, I have incorporated many lessons learned about making technological objects. In my parallel art life, I began by making small wire sculptures. Now my primary work consists of several steps, that take a few weeks to complete. I call it "Industrial Surrealism", combining the elements of surreal objects with the parts of our technological world. The process begins with a series of sketches. These are the parts that will be fitted together to form the superstructure of the piece. The next step relies on my knife skills. My subscriptions to technical magazines supply the latest technological images. The net effect creates an image of endless possibilities and exploration. It's candy for your brain.
