Southeast Transcaucasia, Talesh region
117 x 56 cm (h x w)

This set of saddlebags represents woven tribal art at its best. Probably woven somewhere in the Talesh mountain region near Lenkoran by the Talesh tribe, each large peacock is woven in a slightly different style. The rosettes in the lower panels set within a wide ivory border are typical of Talesh rugs.
