Richard in the Jungle and more art by Emily Sanders Hopkins

Richard in the Jungle

Portrait of Richard Rivera who spent nearly 30 years in prison and is now a doctoral student and a tireless worker on behalf of Ithaca’s poor and homeless people. Here he is pictured in “the jungle,” the encampment behind Walmart, where dozens of people—mostly people with drug addiction problems—live year round.
