Whale killed by ghost net

A whale of approximately 10 meters in length found dead on the southern coasts of Tenerife, Canary Islands. Due to its state of conservation, this adult male had only been adrift for a few days. Since the necropsy could not be performed, it was not possible to determine with certainty if death was caused by the fishing net or if it became entangled after having killed by another factor.
