Artist Statement
My art is about finding hope and joy beyond the pain that we encounter through the birthing process. The painting ‘Come Closer’ is about inseparable human connection, particularly between a mother and her baby. This connection can’t be broken by waves of obstacles along the birthing journey, as the two are always one.

I have given birth to two healthy babies here in Canada, both of which were very difficult deliveries. The first was a forceps delivery after 24 hours in labour and the second an emergency C-section. I am eternally grateful for the excellent care and treatment we received at Credit Valley Hospital, from all the nurses, doctors and staff during the birthing process and post delivery. Today, my kids are healthy growing teens, and not a day goes by without me thanking the hospital staff that helped bring them into this world!
