“Perezhivanie is a unit where, on the one hand, in an indivisible state, the environment is represented, i.e. that which is being experienced – a perezhivani is always related to something which is found outside the person – and on the other hand, what is represented is how I, myself, am experiencing this, i.e., all the personal characteristics and all the environmental characteristics are represented in a perezhivanie”. (Vygotsky,1994). These considerations could be summed up by saying that perezhivaniya are units of the formation of the personality. Fyodor Vasilyuk uses the word ‘perezhivanie’ specifically to mean the process of working over critical situations. In his opinion, to successfully complete perezhivanie requires the aid of another person, be that a therapist, a parent or an actor(Blunden, 2016).
As a clinical-critical psychologist, After listening to different Perezhivanie about death, loneliness, rape, sadness, anxiety, anger, happiness, love etc, among my therapy and supervision sessions I started to turn these perezhivanie into portraits. Painting helped me to recover, to come back to life with full enthusiasm. In this presentation I want to show some of these portraits that I had painted and give a narration that how these perezhivanie have been manifested in them.
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
I am a clinical-critical psychologist, Feminist-Marxist activist and PhD student in education in university of Manchester. Painting has been the best way to express my feelings and emotions since childhood. I have learned painting by myself, but I have had good friends who have helped me to learn more about art. Becoming a psychologist and Feminist-Marxist which is full of encountering many people's life stories opened another door for me to paint. I believe painting is a tool which can lead us to emancipation.
