Inspired by my journey of healing from an Ovarian Tumour and PTSD, while living with
Fibromyalgia and multiple other barriers, I turned to art and found great inspiration in the women who have paved my way in life. Giving myself a reason to show up every day and follow a voice which has no sound, only movement, shape and color. Telling a story and honouring the life of someone else through my own creative lens helped me express Gratitude for life itself and gave me a footing from which to take a next step in my own life. This piece is a celebration of the life of Annette Kellerman, also known as “The Million Dollar Mermaid”.

Amanda was born in The Pas, Manitoba. She grew up playing hockey, being one of the boys and has spent most of her life in or underwater. Healing through art is the driving force behind her work with a longing to understand what it means to be human. Her designs are based on experience, the body a canvas for expression and map of her life. She enjoys the ongoing process of peeling back layers to reveal her true self. Life has taken her to studies in Nursing, Spirituality, Dance and Travel, as far away as Rwanda, all of which inform her work.
