Mungo Dreaming and more art by Trevor (Barkindji people)

Mungo Dreaming, 2019
105 x 112 cm (h x w)
AUD $ 2 000
acrylic on canvas

This painting represents my tribe, the Barkindji, and the strong connection that I have with Mungo. The goanna is my totem. The serpent (Ngatji) is our creator of the Darling River. The kangaroo represents the Mutthi Mutthi people and the emu represents the Ngiyampaa people. This painting also represents the gathering for the return of Mungo man. It was a 40-year fight to have our ancestors repatriated, literally "returned to Country”.
