Rivets 3, Glitch Gabbehs Collection, SoFarSoNear Studio Milan for Zollanvari , 2022
Zollanvari Fine Gabbeh

Traditional Gabbehs are characterised by an abstract design that relies upon open fields of colour and playful geometry. Geometric designs are quintessential Gabbeh designs. In Rivets, the designers have combined squares and rectangles, the most recurring motifs in geometric Gabbehs, on a field made up of bands of bold colours that allow the motifs to stand out almost as if they were three dimensional objects. This is the most virile design in the collection (afterall rectangles stand for man in tribal iconography) and the rivet-like composition of the primary motifs also makes reference to ornamental elements in archaic Persian metalwork. But what is most striking about this creation is the sense of individuality… a ground-breaking design with soul.
