Tablets and Mosaics for the Digital Storyteller , 2022

My “mosaic” tells the story of storytelling, referencing dark clay tablets, ancient mosaics, and colourful pixels of our devices. Through juxtaposing broken, ancient plaster forms with resin, my work represents the digitization of history to explore how changing forms of storytelling can preserve the past; offering enduring relevance to the imaginations of previous centuries. I preserved snippets of stories in literature and art within resin pixels to reference how artefacts can be photographed for digital preservation, and used repetition to reference the varying interpretations of past tales. Through picking up my pieces, viewers reflect on how storytelling and time exist in vivid symbiosis.
