This woman is grinding a type of grain called Mandia (a kind of millet) with a pestle. It is said to be good for one’s health when mixed with hot water and drunk up. Deep in the mountains of the state of Odisha, southeast India, there lives a tribe called Adivasi. Adivasi women wear sari in their own way, speak their own language, and lead traditional lives.
