As this work began I wanted to conceptualize the character, as sometimes I’ll do concept art in illustration form to help me better understand what a character looks like or how their personality shows through. I gave up for a while, because I wasn’t sure where to go with it, came back after a few months when I had finally decided on a design for the character, and was hit with a new inspiration for how to finish the piece. Thus, the setting had moved from under the ocean to above it and the character has moved from the depths to look at the heavens above.
