This playful piece by Hamra is endearing in its subject matter, featuring treehouses, boats and busy snakes and snails.

David Hamra is a late-career artist who has an experimental practice, using mediums such as acrylic, coloured pencil, dry pastel, gouache and greylead pencil on paper. He paints people and places that are familiar to him. His style is humble, colourful and feels effortless in the way he applies colour and composition to best suit the ideas he is expressing. He likes to work on black, white and coloured grounds and loosely colours the figures and spaces he draws.

Hamra joined Arts Project Australia in 2019, and the Virtual Gala will be his second exhibition with Arts Project Australia.
