"I started this piece at a live panting session at a full moon celebration at CoSM. When the mushroom challenge arose I decided to get back to it and finish it. This painting was created by an experience of going deeper and deeper into a tunnel towards the light. I first constructed a sacred geometric gird. Soon after I envisioned the various eyes and mushrooms going towards the center. I felt like I was flying into the center of the mandala…going within, going deeper and deeper with each layer. I wanted a good reference for a figure flying into the center. Not having any models handy, I laid on the corner of my dining room with my hands and legs out as if I was flying while my husband took a variety of photos. By the time the session was over, my stomach muscles were hurting but we had found the perfect image. As a sacred geometer, visionary artist and mandala artist, I often enjoy combining those elements into my artwork.

I was excited and inspired to be a part of the Vision Train Mushroom Challenge. I have deep appreciation and love for the mushroom kingdom, Their many varieties and healing qualities are so beneficial, some giving us more energy, some helping to improve our memory and others giving our immunity a boost. Studies have shown that the psilocybin in mushrooms may be an effective chemical for treating post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and anxiety and other mushrooms have been found beneficial in cleaning toxic sites.
