Transparent diamond dust on paper

© Lélia Pissarro

In 2005 the artist became fascinated with the subject of footwear and produced a series of works including shoes and boots, symbolizing femininity, sensuality and sexuality. The use of sparkling glitter, mixed with oil paint and acrylic, lends vitality to the static representation of the immobile shoe. This work was originally commissioned for the charity Ovarian Cancer Action.
