Although completely manmade these tracks and drainage ditches on the Somerset Levels provide structure and depth to a flat landscape. The area interests me, many bits are very remote and due to the low land value and high water table, development is restricted. Flooding gives a sense of vulnerability to natural forces. Some areas are reclaimed by the reed beds, willow and wetland and it feels peaceful and untouched left to the realms of small farms, swans and other birdlife.
