A pre-pandemic painting of a byway near my home near a place called Three Ashes. The St Michael current follows this muddy byway for some distance. In the winter light Ivy clad tree branches of the ash trees take on interlocking sculptural forms. These trees, like all those higher up on the Mendips had shown die back (disease) in 2019 and only partially came in to leaf this year.
