Sleeping Jade , 2020
10 x 13.3 in (h x w)
Digital

Due to its reflective properties, the Jade has grown to be associated with heavenly powers and healing abilities. Ancient rites include filling the deceased’s mouths with jades to aid in the body’s revival - as death was believed to simply be protracted sleep. Outside of culture, there is something extremely poetic about the nature of crystals: that such a complex collage of colour, light - beauty, that can grow within something so simple, a rock. The jade charms will eventually heal me, and show that I am of value and worth.
