ABOUT THE ARTIST

His code-based compositions, video loops, films, & prints have been exhibited and screened at: transmediale (Berlin), the Gardiner Museum/CONTACT Festival (Toronto), NFT NOW (New York), Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ (Amsterdam), the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Anthology Film Archives (New York), the London International Film Festival, & the Bienal Internacional del Cartel en México.

ABOUT THIS ARTWORK
'LOOM (alpaca)' is a video loop made from code & a strand of alpaca wool rich in variation. Diagonal lines have an inherent tension, moving here in dynamic relation to the perpendicular. Visible diagonals occur in nature more often than 90 degree angles, which are very human (they rarely appear unless we make them). While I made this work, the virtual, generated space I worked in was a 3D grid: unseen lines defining vertical, horizontal, and depth, or the x, y, and z axes of the human world.
