The theme that I explored in Studio Arts this year is emotion. I have used film photography to explore how landscapes and portraiture can both convey feelings of human emotion.
The feeling that this artwork communicates is the soft, yet harsh reality of the subject matter. Looking at the prints, side by side, the landscape and the portrait complement each other, to depict a sense of sadness. The beat up car in a junk yard has seen better days and has, perhaps, been forgotten. This is positioned next to a portrait of a girl looking straight at the camera, to confront the viewer with a sadness that she feels.
