Sink or Swim , 2020
# acrylic and oil on canvas

In Sink or Swim the ladder offers the viewer a means of transcendence from the space above to a world below. Horizontally angled, the ladder extends out and invites the viewer to jump on for a three-dimensional ride. In this surreal world composed of air and water, the viewer is meant to simultaneously float up, sink down, move forward, and race back, similar to how light radiates down and bounces back up.
