Mandi Stewart is a St Ives based multimedia Artist who specialises in printmaking but also works with installation, sculpture and painting. She draws on many life influences in her work; landscape, a sense of place, the elemental forces of breathing and the sea, but primarily her personal experience as a disabled person. The experience of living with ill-health and the fragility of life led Mandi to embark on her artistic career initially at the St Ives School of Art and currently at the Royal College of Art MA Print programme.

Mandi's work is defined by her use of multilayered collage materials and plates and many of her prints are single edition. She has developed this technique over many years whilst working in the historic Porthmeor Print workshop in St Ives. Her recent work uses etching, photolithography and photo-etching techniques to explore the sea and horizon. Her connection with St Ives and the sea has been longstanding but the recent pandemic has been paramount in developing this relationship as she has taken up sea swimming. Mandi is also researching the absence of representations of disabled female artists within the art world for her Masters and is currently making work which explores body image and disability through the helix structure.

Mandi has exhibited in a range of venues including: The Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair 2020, St Ives Open Studios, The Penwith Gallery, The Society of Artists, the Salthouse Gallery and the Crypt Gallery in St Ives.
