Jeanine’s work teeters between time zones, set in a fictional world where pointy shoes and breeches are all the rage. Her drawings invite a constant raft of characters, who are often costumed, sometimes menacing, but always making their way through narratives that evoke a surreal fantasy space. Recent works feature creatures and busy small people clutching or bartering with prized heads, though it is unclear whether their victims are in some kind of dreamy slumber or have been cut off in haste like a prized scalp. Playfulness and humour pepper a practice that has embraced etchings and dry points as a way to evoke something essentially textural and art historical in a very contemporary form.

Jeanine has exhibited internationally, selected shows include; Galerie Analix Forever Geneva, Kyung Hee University Museum Seoul, Josh Lilley Gallery London, Villa Giulia – CRAA, Verbania Italy, Kunsthal KAdE Amersfoort Netherlands, Limoncello London, Dienstgebaude, Zurich, EM Gallery Seoul, Standpoint Gallery London, as well as completing residencies at The Royal Standard, Liverpool, Sculpture Space, Utica New York and participating in Turner Contemporary Open 2012 and New Contemporaries 2008.

She is Artist in Resident at Pollocks Toy Museum, London in Autumn 2021.

Jeanine graduated from Goldsmiths MFA in 2007.
