John Sextons background lies in the area of sculpture and three-dimensional work and that preoccupation has continued to influence his printmaking. He uses imagery based on the built environment, sometimes existing sites sometimes contrived, to explore ideas of inside/outside , containment and the possibility of passage.
John graduated from Goldsmiths college with an MA in Fine Art in 1982 and first started to explore printmaking in 2000.
Since then, he has exhibited his prints in both one-person and mixed-shows, most recently in 2019 at the National Original Print Exhibition at Bankside Gallery and the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair and again at the virtual Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair in 2020 .
