Jane Stothert’s training as a Graphic Designer is evident in her work through her love of colour, shape and rhythm. She moves between being purely non-referential to careful analytical observations of London scenes and interiors. She is been inspired not only by the landscapes to be found in London, but also from her trips abroad. Through her unique vision she simplifies her observations into colourful geometric shapes, often incorporating her motif the stripe, but not always

More recently Jane has been working on a series depicting the ever changing view of Battersea Power Station as seen from her studio window, which is more representative. Sadly most of the building is hidden. As can be seen in Gradual Disappearance 2018 to 2020.

Another series close to her heart is based on her sailing holidays in Anglesey, which merges realism with a hint of abstraction as seen in Race to Holyhead 2019 ( before covid).

Jane is a member of Southbank Printmakers and the Printmakers Council.

Josef Albers and Bridget Riley are a great source of inspiration.
