Tim Southall comes from a family of artists. One of his forebearers was the printmaker Sir Frank Short who transcribed JMW Turner's paintings into engravings in the early twentieth century. Tim is a graduate of the Royal College of Art, London and the École des Beaux Arts, Paris. He currently lives and works in Cadiz Province in southern Spain.

As a printmaker who also paints, his working mediums are etching, silkscreen, monotype, and oil on canvas, paper and board. As a figurative artist his interests are fairly traditional and representational covering a broad spectrum of subjects from fluid, evocative landscapes to narrative pieces very much in the printmaking tradition. Through print processes and materials at the printmaker’s hand, he interprets these ideas and take the viewer with him on a creative journey, striving to make pieces of art that make an emotional connection with the viewer.

Tim has pursued an active exhibition program for 40 years. Recent key exhibition include RA Summer Exhibition 2011/13/18, National Original Print Exhibition 2015/16/17/18, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair 2017/2018/19/20, The Discerning Eye, Various Masters of Printmaking exhibitions and open exhibitions around the world. His work is held by the V & A, the British Museum and in the National Printmaking Archive.
