Jo Boddy uses linocut and collagraph to explore the effect of light and water on land- and seascapes. She is fascinated by the emotional response we have to water in its many forms.
Jo creates highly textured collagraph plates which are uniquely inked for each print. She uses the reduction linocut method and layers of semi-translucent ink to build colour and explore depth and perspective. Jo experiments with mark making directly onto the lino using a variety of drawing and painting tools to create lively and exciting work.
Jo has created several series of collagraph prints inspired by the ever-changing water at her favourite Norfolk beach. 2020/21 forced her to stay closer to her home in Surrey and a series of reduction linocuts exploring the changing effects of seasonal light in the Swinley Forest resulted.
Jo is nearing completion of the Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at West Dean College of Arts and Conservation.
Jo’s work is held in numerous private collections. Two of her collagraphs were exhibited in the ‘Makings’ exhibition at Adams Gallery, Reigate in 2021. One of her linocuts was long listed for the D31 Art Prize in 2021.
