The Last Dragon , 2021
Acrylic on paper

ARTWORK DESCRIPTION

The artist began this artwork by drawing silhouettes in pencil and marker on paper and then using a gradation technique to create the background (making one colour gradually change into another colour). Lastly, he used a drip technique (painting, spraying with water and holding up the paper to create drips).

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Rahiz Pardhan is currently 12 years old and born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He moved to Canada when he was almost 3 years old. He is currently in grade 7 at Steve Maclean Public School.
His favourite subjects are Math and Science. In his free time, he loves playing piano, basketball, and volleyball.

Rahiz has a naughty monkey at home that he loves playing with all the time, his baby sister Rahiza. He cannot imagine his life without her. They love to play together, fight over things, cry loud, laugh together, and hug each other all the time. He just loves her so so much!

Last year when COVID hit, schools were closed and everything went online. Rahiz had plenty of time at home, and instead of sitting in front of the screen for long time, he started inking the papers. Initially, he found himself not having much skill with even simple drawings. He would just end up wasting papers, but eventually more practicing helped.

With regards to community service, Rahiz is a junior Volunteer serving the Jamat and the Imam of the Time. He has also recently joined the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, as well. He looks to serve and give back to the community by doing everything that he can.
