Tibetan Necklace , 2010s
Jewelry

This necklace made of Tibetan beads and Chinese turquoise stones belongs to Joyce Wang. She collected this necklace on her travel to Shigatse, Tibet. When choosing clothing accessories, Joyce would not intentionally pick Chinese pieces to highlight her cultural identity, but she embraces ethnic pieces if they visually interest her. Thinking of jewelry, Joyce states that she loves the individuality and spirit each piece has brought. She also appreciates that her collected pieces from global locations look so different from one another. They captured stories and memories much more beyond their material forms and craftsmanship.
