This pair of ceramic sculptures is a visual comment on the fracturing and polarization of society that we are witnessing today. One is black, one white. Two different and contrasting polarized world views seen only one way or the other with no middle common ground. And yet within each we see a further fracturing with common points of contact only here and there. These pieces are deconstructed and reconstructed Cubist inspired vessels. A vessel is a container. In this case each vessel holds a collection of ideas, values, attitudes and opinions, sadly many of them intransigent. We are reminded that there are myriad ways of seeing everything, depending on your perspective. This work urges you to not ignore all the things that lie between the two extremes and to give critical thought to your own point of view in order to bridge this chasm.
