Bumblebee in Roses

8 x 11 x 2 in (h x w x d)
This textile sculpture celebrates the bumblebees that are active in my rugosa roses from Spring to Fall. I love watching them busily move from one flower to the next. Their buzzing reminds me of how important they are to a healthy environment. Their buzzing allows them to effectively pollinate a large number of fruits, vegetables and flowers. There are over 40 species of bumblebees in Canada. So far, I have identified and photographed 5 species - more than 25% of the 16 native to my province!
