Το Δάσος Φρακτού βρίσκεται βορειοανατολικά της Δράμας, ακριβώς στα σύνορα με τη Βουλγαρία. Σε αυτό συναντάμε μαυρόπευκα, έλατα, οξυές, ερυθρελάτες και σημύδες που συνθέτουν ένα από τα ομορφότερα μεικτά δάση της Ελλάδας. Αποτελεί ένα από τα ελάχιστα, εναπομείναντα, αδιατάρακτα δασικά οικοσυστήματα της Ευρώπης, και φιλοξενεί μια εντυπωσιακή ποικιλία σπάνιων ειδών χλωρίδας όπως ο πανέμορφος κρίνος της Ροδόπης, αλλά και πανίδας όπως ο αγριόκουρκος, η αρκούδα και το κόκκινο ελάφι.

Fraktos forest is located northeast of Drama, right on the border of Greece with Bulgaria. In this forest the black pines, firs, beeches, european spruces, and silver birches compose one of the most beautiful mixed forests in Greece. It is one of the few remaining undisturbed forest ecosystems in Europe, and is home to an impressive variety of rare plants such as the beautiful lily of Rhodope. Additionally, rare birds and animals such as the western capercaillie, the bear and the red deer have been recorded in the area.
