This piece is a diorama and sculptural investigation of the character, Marlene (occasionally written as Marlinchen or
Marleenken) from the Grimm’s fairytale, “The Juniper Tree.” Items in the box are made primarily from porcelain, the
box itself is built from pine, and the dove on top of the box is porcelain and gold resin. Symbolic items inside the box
include a stool, red shoes, a white scarf, a window, and bones in a small grass patch.
