Gelatin silver print

Many people have been changed by the late Chicana artist Laura Aguilar's photos. She affected how we understand identity now, even if she wasn't well-known when she began taking images in the 1970s. As a large-bodied working-class lesbian Chicana woman, she examined serious issues like mental health and justice in the arts that are only now being addressed.
