This collage portrait is based on Ranboo, who is a Minecraft streamer. The textile artist Bisa Butler was one of the major inspirations for this artwork because of the way she portrays a person’s personality and preferences through a portrait of abstract coloring and patterns in place of more realistic color and texture of skin and clothes. To create this artwork, I considered what Ranboo likes, and what defines him. An example of this are the paper airplanes on half his torso, which represents how he loves traveling. Afterwards, I made the sketch on another piece of paper, which I then copied onto the artwork paper. I then planned where each piece that represents him would go on which part of his body. Then I glued and taped them down. I also used mixed media to define his features.
