Madame Butterfly , 2022

Coming out from the pandemic lockdowns was not easy. I had, and sometimes still do, anxiety and fear. I grew to like the slowness my life had taken. I had found space to think and process ideas, so when my husband asked me to go to Sydney in May 2022 for an awards night he was nominated for, I was both thrilled for him and terrified for me. Venturing so far out of my seemed overwhelming. My trips to Sydney in the past usually consisted of shopping and dining. I was not that person now and I craved space. I found myself walking past Government House and saw the Opera House differently. Somehow quieter. Like a beautiful butterfly. I was seeing Sydney with fresh eyes. During the lockdowns I had found a new way of seeing, and my challenge is to maintain this calm, considered approach to the world around me.
