STORY:
To see rain on Uluru is a rare occurrence – but one of the greatest sights you could ever witness. The Rock itself is a majestic formation, but after heavy rain, with rivulets of water running down its sides and creating waterfalls, it is truly spectacular. I have been fortunate to witness this phenomenon about four times in my life, but previously I had been focusing on the bigger picture of the Rock with numerous falls. But on this day, I was able to focus specifically on one of the largest falls on the western side of Uluru. It was blowing a gale – as you can tell from the swirling trees – and I love the fact that it’s shot on the Phase One camera, as you get marvelous detail to help you connect to the scene. Rain in the red centre brings life to the land, so it is always seen as a gift from heaven.
