"Windblown", Ucluelet BC, Canada
Oil on Canvas
36”x48”x1.5”
This painting is a B&W version of a windblown tree on the Wild Pacific Trail in Ucluelet. The middle of the tree has been burnt by salt and the stump was originally part of the same tree. Windblown trees are very common on the coast as the sea-spray and wind gradually deform trees into twisted and bent fragments. This tree is a spruce tree that has lost some of its branches and needles. The painting includes layers of intricately detailed needles, branches and twigs. I like painting the intricacy of this type of detail.
